Private image compressor
Resize and compress a JPEG, PNG or WebP image right here in your browser, without uploading the file.
Choose an image, set the options, and compress it. Your file stays in this browser.
Your image is decoded and exported in this browser. No image upload occurs. JPEG exports use a white background for transparency. Animated files export a single still image. Keep the original.
Smaller where it counts.
Start by reducing dimensions to match the job. A photo that is 6,000 pixels wide rarely needs all those pixels in a small web page or email. This tool keeps the aspect ratio, does not enlarge a smaller original, and lets your browser encode the result.
WebP and JPEG offer an adjustable quality setting. PNG is lossless and ignores that quality slider; a PNG export may be larger than the original, especially for photographs. The tool shows the actual file size rather than promising a saving.
Check the result before you send it.
Inspect fine text and important details. JPEG cannot preserve transparency, so this tool fills transparent areas with white for that format. If the requested encoding is unavailable, the browser may fall back to PNG; the download extension follows the actual exported format.
The tool is for ordinary web and sharing images, not print production, preservation, animation, or forensic metadata sanitization. Re-encoding can change colour profiles, metadata and visual quality.
Choose the right image format or read the private compression guide.
A few useful answers
Does my photo leave my device?
The compressor has no image-upload request. The image is read into your browser and the output is created there. Normal page requests still reach our hosting providers, as described in our privacy notice.
Why did the output get bigger?
The original may already be efficiently compressed, or the chosen format may be a poor fit. PNG can be much larger for a photo. Try a smaller width or a lower JPEG/WebP quality setting.
Can I use this for sensitive documents?
Keep an original and inspect the output carefully. Compression is not redaction or a verified way to remove all metadata. It does not erase visible personal information.
Will it keep animation and transparency?
Exports are still images. PNG and supported WebP exports can retain transparency; JPEG exports fill transparency with white.
